1. Overview
SourdoughLife ("we," "us," or "our") uses artificial intelligence (AI) to provide certain features within the app. This policy explains which features use AI, what data those features collect and process, how that data is used, and what choices you have.
This policy supplements our main Privacy Policy. If there is a conflict between this document and the Privacy Policy, the more protective provision applies.
2. AI Features in This App
The following AI-powered features are currently available:

AI features are powered by third-party AI providers. We use three providers — Anthropic, OpenAI, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) — and we may use any of them for any AI feature and switch among them over time. The no-training commitment described below applies to all three. If we ever add a different AI provider, we will notify you in advance (see Section 7). Separately, AWS also hosts your data (storage, database, and compute).
3. AI Processing — Detailed Disclosure
This section describes how our two AI features process your data: bread photo review and the schedule assistant.
3a. What happens to your data
- Your bread photos (and any notes you include) and your schedule-assistant conversation (your questions and bake context) are transmitted securely to our AI providers for analysis.
- The AI returns feedback — an assessment of crust, crumb, and shape for photos; a proposed schedule and answers for the assistant — which is displayed to you in the app.
- We keep your uploaded photos as part of your bake record (with location and camera metadata removed) for as long as you keep that bake. You can remove them at any time by deleting the bake in the app, and they are deleted when you delete your account.
- Your photos and other content are not used to train or improve AI models, under our providers' standard API terms.
3b. Third-party AI providers
Our AI processing is performed by third-party providers — Anthropic, OpenAI, and AWS. Each provider publishes its own data-use terms — see Anthropic (anthropic.com/legal), OpenAI (openai.com/policies), and AWS (aws.amazon.com/privacy). By using AI features, you acknowledge that your content will be processed according to those providers' terms as well as this policy.
3c. Your consent
Before you use an AI feature for the first time, the app presents an in-app consent prompt explaining the above. You must actively confirm before any content is sent to our AI providers, and the app does not send your content until you have granted consent. You may withdraw consent at any time in Settings → AI Features.
Apple App Store requirement: Rule 5.1.2(i) requires explicit consent before sharing personal data with third-party AI systems. This disclosure and the in-app consent prompt are designed to satisfy that requirement; the app does not transmit your content to an AI provider until you have granted consent.
4. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal information, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising — this includes your photos, recipes, and baking data.
- We do not use your data to serve advertising.
- We do not use AI to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
5. Data Retention
The following retention periods apply to AI-related data:

After account deletion, limited records may be retained where the law requires or permits — for example, de-identified tax and transaction records (up to seven years), privacy-request records (approximately 30 months), and short-term backups (overwritten within 35 days). See our Terms of Service (§4.2) for details.
6. Your Rights & Choices
All users
- Opt out of AI features at any time in Settings → AI Features.
- Delete your account and your content via Settings → Account → Delete Account.
- Request a copy of your data by emailing admin@insightflow.life.
California residents (CCPA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of certain sharing. To exercise these rights, contact us at admin@insightflow.life. We will respond within 45 days (extendable by up to another 45 days where permitted, with notice).
7. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of material changes to this policy via in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. If a change expands the categories of data AI features collect, or adds a new AI provider beyond the three named in Section 2, we will ask for your renewed consent before that change applies to you; you can decline by turning AI features off. For other (non-material) changes, continued use of AI features after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
